| Training activities / programmes | The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council, founded in 1968, is a non-profit multiple social service agency.
Our tenet is "Love Thy Neighbour as Thy Self". We uphold social work professionalism to serve all Hong Kong residents. We provide variety programs in the project, including volunteer services, interest groups, program solving programs, career planning etc. We assist the children to build up positive life attitude, good saving habit and positive financial planning through these trainings and mentorship program. What's more, we emphasise on mentors' role. In order to have basic understanding of youth nowadays, there will be some basic training for our mentors, such as the characteristics of the community, recent youth situation, and how to communicate with youth. In addition, there will be some specific workshops about positive psychology, new senior secondary course and career planning, aiming at easier for the mentor to give any advice. We believe that the more stable the mentor-mentee relationships, as well as with their families, the easier the children to complete the project successfully. Our project will recruit ethnic minorities and new arrivals in the community, so as to provide them with opportunities to communicate and learn, as well as to have an integrated society. |
